Our logo - a stylised snail shell - but why?
The vineyard snail symbolises tranquillity. It is noiseless, even when it crawls. The spiral on the snail's shell stands for centring. And when the snail leaves its shell, it symbolises transience.
The snail shell shows a clockwise spiral. For the Celtic Druids, it symbolises the path of the soul in the here and now, as well as the flow of life. In the centre of the spiral, the soul begins its path, the origin, and develops. It grows and learns on its way outwards. The snail shell with the clockwise spiral stands for movement, energy, growth and strength. If the spiral turns anti-clockwise, it symbolises the return to the origin, to unity with the greater whole, the path into our deepest inner being and the end. Spirals always symbolise the cycle of life: becoming, living and passing away.
The snail shows itself to us to draw our attention to a time of retreat. Because just as it takes its time on its journey, it calls on us to slow down, take a deep breath and calm down. The snail shows us what passes us by when we race through life unchecked. It offers us the opportunity to devote ourselves to the small, important things in life again, to take frequent breaks along the way, to admire the treasures of nature and to enjoy life. Let's let others race, rush and overtake us. Let's stay calm. At the latest when the others run out of steam or fly off the track at excessive speed, we will catch up with them again in a leisurely and relaxed manner, richly endowed and at peace with ourselves. The most important message of the snail for us humans is: ‘The last will be first, because the first will be last.’ The snail advises us to take a step back from everything, to withdraw and find our inner peace and strength again.
Let's start to centre ourselves again, to find our inner centre. Let's let the vineyard snails guide us, let's go into nature, the forest and enjoy the silence, take pleasure in all the beauty and let us be surprised at what is possible and what we will discover.
